Biography

Dr. Sen is the head of Team I4S, IIT Mandi. Dr. Sen did his doctoral research in IIT Kharagpur, India and currently, is an Assistant Professor in IIT Mandi, HP, India. His research interest includes structural dynamics, vibration analysis, signal filtering and parameter estimation techniques.

Research Focus

Doctoral Thesis
Title: Control theory based structural health monitoring using measured vibration response
Summary:
The study applies control theory techniques like eigenstructure assignment and Kalman filtering to assess the health of civil infrastructure systems under model and measurement uncertainties. It focuses on creating economical and efficient algorithms by reducing instrumentation and computation costs without compromising precision.

Postdoctoral Research
Title: Development of robust and noise adaptive particle filtering based algorithm for structural health monitoring
Summary:
This research addresses systems with correlated noise and changing environments. It introduces a particle filter algorithm that outperforms Kalman-type methods in such conditions, enhancing robustness and adaptability in structural monitoring.
